Have you ever thought about taking a solo trip – ALL BY YOUR LONESOME? It has many more advantages than you would initially think about because we are accustomed to traveling in groups or romantic jet setting. Having traveled to Kenya, Tanzania, Singapore and Thailand solo, let me outline a few of the advantages that you may have overlooked:
1. Self realization. Self actualization. Self determination. You can do whatever YOU want!
How often do you treat, pamper and show yourself love? A solo vacation is a time for choosing your favorite sites, researching your personal interests and going for it. If you have a desire to see all the sights one day, but stay in bed the next day and sip wine and enjoy bubble baths you can do that. What restaurant are you in the mood to try tonight? Many of us believe if we think only of ourselves we are being selfish; instead we are giving ourselves needed fuel, rest, jubilation, rejuvenation, time for contemplation, or simple solitude that will benefit YOU and others when you return from your solo trip.
2. Everybody is nice to you
It’s hard to believe but when you travel alone – people are nicer to you automatically. Maybe its because the idea of traveling solo is so obsolete that patrons, shoppers, guides, etc., are simply nicer to you because they assume you are either lonely or couldn’t find a travel companion. Seldom do they realize you chose to travel solo. It makes the experiences richer, more connective, more open because you can truly give one on one attention to those you meet, sit on the plane with, those who guide you around the city or friends you make in exciting, new places. People simply invest more time in you and you in them.
3. You get closer to yourself
Ever felt like you can't hear your thoughts? When you are required to spend a weekend or more with yourself, you start listening to your heart, your mind and your body. You get inspired by the people and environment around you and the only person to share it with, well is yourself.
4. Awe. Excitement. Anticipation.
You will experience these emotions the entire time you travel solo. The awe that you actually DID IT! The excitement that each day belongs to you – you can shape it anyway you want to without feeling guilt, remorse, conflict or agitation. There's no better feeling than the feeling of accomplishing a challenge such as traveling alone.
5. You leave alone but you won’t be lonely
Last but not least the most important reason to travel solo is that you will meet amazing people along the way. If you have ever considered going solo, but been afraid or indecisive about it…reconsider. It is a remarkable experience that can be repeated as many times as you desire. #liveandlovethejourney

Have you possibly changed your mind? What do you think about solo traveling now? Where would you go?
