Traveling to Chicago in Cold Months? Whyyyy?!

Here's why: Good food, Great blues and jazz, Good people and Great sights! Why miss out on this when all you need to add are a coat, hat, scarf and gloves.

So, yeah, a HEAVY coat and THICK gloves, but it's ALL worth it! We did a quick weekend getaway trip to Chicago in November. Yes, in November, and it was one of our best!

After finally deciding that we were actually going to travel to Chicago with full knowledge of the cold weather, the next decision we made was to stay at The Palmer House, downtown Chicago.

You could actually have a nice stay, experiencing the hustle and bustle of people, a delicious burger joint and bar (veggie burgers too), Starbucks, sweet treats from Sugar Bliss and much more, while never leaving The Palmer House complex.

We had a great time at the Palmer House, but we were in Chicago to experience more. So we wrapped up in our winter gear and hit the streets of downtown Chicago!

I met my 10,000 steps goal everyday we were in Chicago. We enjoyed an evening where jazz lives, at the Jazz Showcase, listening to the smooth saxophone sounds of the Donald Harrison quartet.

We got down with BTS Express and Shirley Johnson, singing and playing the blues at Sweet Home Blues Chicago.

Many of you know how I do, so you know I'm going to find someplace to visit where we can learn and experience Black history and culture. With the many times I've been to Chicago, I had never visited the DuSable museum. We didn't make that same mistake on this trip. We learned more about Mayor Washington, the History of Black people in the military, experienced photography of Chicago's Southside architecture and more.

Our weekend getaway to Cold Chicago had us all warm inside. Whether winter, spring summer or fall, Chicago's got me singing: "This Town," "Take Me Back To Chicago," "Sweet Home Chicago," "My Kind of Town."

Don't ever let a little cold weather slow your flow. Let's travel y'all!
